A while ago, the municipality of Velsen approached us asking us to help them with Sluis 751. This is a central meeting place for Velseners where you can just walk in, meet others and enjoy a snack and a drink in the lunchroom. Workshops and activities are regularly organized, both recreational and focused on recovery, reintegration and development. In addition, you can contact Sluis 751 with requests for help. The various social organizations under the same roof are happy to provide information, advice and support.
Naar de online website
A few things had been done for this social location. A logo was created from a competition, a website and a few corporate identity elements had been developed. However, there was a lack of unity and the website was not logically structured and did not meet the accessibility requirements of the municipality. Since Sluis 751 focuses on all Velseners, it was essential that the site was accessible to everyone.
To bring the whole thing into line, we started with the logo and corporate identity. Because the logo was already in use, it was important to maintain familiarity. The original logo included an illustration of a ship to depict its relationship with the port. While this was logical given the location, it was too obvious and little in relation to the purpose of the organization. However, we did not want to completely move away from this dominant image. That's why we softened the lines of the illustration to create a more social image that better fits the heart of the organization. We also looked at the font used and its positions, with the aim of creating a friendlier, more inviting and softer image. The subtitle, in particular, was not easy to read in the original logo. The result is a logo that remains close to the original logo in terms of recognisability, but is now much better suited to the organization and its goals.
The website was built in Webflow and can be found at Sluis 751. We have ensured that the site is accessible to everyone, in line with the accessibility requirements of the municipality of Velsen. The design of the website is logical and user-friendly, with a clear navigation structure that easily guides visitors to the information they are looking for. Key features such as text-to-speech, contrasting colors, and an easy-to-use menu make the site accessible to people with different needs.
It digital brandbook was then applied to posters, menus, flyers and, of course, the new website, so that consistent and recognizable branding is visible through all expressions.
After the logo, we developed a corporate identity manual. This contains all guidelines for using the corporate identity elements. The aim is to promote and force the consistent use of these elements so that the branding reinforced and the Sluis 751 brand will become stronger in the market.
Of course, we are always open to discussions about the best approach. It might be wise to have a conversation with Frank first to determine exactly what your organization needs.
